Safety Officer

We are currently looking for a Safety Officer with 3 to 5 years of experience, to join our team in Greece. This role includes being responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and providing safety training to employees. The Safety Officer monitors compliance with safety regulations and responds to emergencies, aiming to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. This role is critical in promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure that safety policies are communicated to all employees and understood
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards
  • Implement corrective measures to mitigate identified risks
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards
  • Maintain updated knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Conduct safety training sessions and workshops for employees
  • Develop training materials and ensure that all staff receive appropriate safety instruction
  • Respond to workplace accidents and emergencies
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports of accidents and safety violations
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices
  • Document findings and follow up on corrective actions
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans
  • Coordinate emergency drills and ensure that all staff are familiar with emergency procedures
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment regularly
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance activities
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management review
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices
  • Encourage employee participation in safety programs and initiatives

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications following the Greek legislation is a must
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety officer or similar role
  • Greek and English are a must
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and present information clearly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
